VIOLENCE WON'T SOLVE THE ANGLOPHONE CONFLCT, SAYS US AMBASSADOR
Civil rights groups as well as the International Community have condemned violence as a way out to the six years and county conflict in Southern Cameroons. Despite all the different voices glamouring for a genuine dialogue with different stakeholders, LRC with her ruler dictator Paul Biya have remained glue to the use of arms. Since 2017 that the people of Southern Cameroons engaged in diverse self defense mechanism against LRC colonial forces following the war declared on the people of Southern Cameroons by the Paul Biya. The colonial forces of Paul Biya have carried out uncountable fruitless military operations to wipe out the Ambazonian liberation fighters, yet their authorities are not pressing for genuine negotiations to end the conflict, nor their suprime Commander Paul Biya giving peace talks a consideration. Is it that Paul Biya is ignorant of the fact that you can win a war against a people who are determined?
Has he sold his conscience to devil and finds pleasure seeing the youths dieing? The US Ambassador to Cameroon has said that violence won’t solve anglophone conflict.US ambassador to Cameroon, Christopher John Lamora has said that using soldiers in the crisis-hit Anglophone regions will not solve the conflict which has been rocking the region for over five years now and counting. The Ambassador was speaking to state media this December 12 and used the opportunity to call on the colonial government authorities to initiate real, open and honest dialogue:
“I personally do not believe in violence and the La Republique du CameroUn government should stop using soldiers to instigate more violence. Dialogue is best and the United States of America is here to help stop all the killings and burning down of schools."
The objective of La Republique du CameroUn to destroy all the standing institutions in Southern Cameroons is not strange to any one even to the United States Ambassador.
" Any individual or group of persons who deliberately burn down schools making young persons to stay at home should stop.Stop the killings.” He added.
He went on to urge President of LRC, Biya to go for dialogue once he returnd from the USA where he is attending a USA-Africa summit:
“I watch all the violent videos and see all the pictures and sometimes I get emotional. The crisis has gone on for more than 4 years now with too many lives lost already and innocent children dropping out of school. Families are rendered homeless, people are scared to move freely with others vacating their home towns to strange places. We try using our World Food Program to feed the affected areas specially the internally displaced and we recently shipped more food items. No one should enjoy instigating war, ” John Lamora explained.
The socio-political crisis which gradually became known as the anglophone crisis has been going on in Southern Cameroons since 2016 and murphed into a war in 2017, ever since then, there has been very little effort made by the colonial LRC government authorities to put an end to the grievances of the people of these region. So far, official figures show than over 3,000 people have been killed on both fighting factions and over 700,000 have been internally and externally displaced.
