TIBOR NAGY TALKS ON FEDERATION FOR AMBAZONIA
Tibor Peter Nagy Jr. is a former United States Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, and a former American foreign service officer who served as the American ambassador to Guinea and to Ethiopia. Has said in a tweet. "Truth- southern Cameroon AMBAZONIA Community split between federalist and independence advocates. But everyone should be willing to support a demand for an internationally supervised referendum on the ground to let the people decide their future -not the diaspora.".
But a concerned AMBAZONIAN wrote a letter to Tibor Nagy.
Fellow ANBAZONIANS, we have alot to talk about but let's start with this report.
Star Smart is here as always. Good evening Star
Good evening Onyee..
This pained AMBAZONIAN said
"*THIS MESSAGE SHOULD BE FORWARDED TO TIBOR NAGY ,FRENCH CAMEROUN AND HER MASTER*
There shall be no REFERENDUM in Southern Cameroons territory because we don't have any Union TREATY with French Cameroun. What are we breaking from if I may ask? The fake plebiscite on February 11th 1961 has no legal bindings according to article 102 of the United Nations Charter.
Respect resolution 1608 and 1514 .
We challenge anybody calling for REFERENDUM or two states federation to show us any legal document binding Southern Cameroons and French Cameroun. French Cameroun through crook France got her conditional independence on the 1st of January 1960. Southern Cameroons later on got her own independence on the 1st of October 1961 according to resolution 1608 of 21st April 1961. What happened with the first fake federal structure that was abolished by French Cameroun through crook France voilating international law?
Accepting REFERENDUM in Southern Cameroons is like a suicide mission. Dictator Paul Biya has never won any elections, yet he has been in power for 4 decades killing Southern Cameroonians and the world is silent. The only thing we want from any entity or Country is to tell la republic du Cameroun to respect her boundary as of independence. Southern Cameroonians are tired of double standards around the world.
Justice is what we want.".
But this is uncalled for ,one would think that Tibor Nagy understands these issues,
But how can a statesman who understands legality , who understands international laws and Resolution and it works, be speaking in these terms .. It's been observed that In recent times he is talking in contravention of what southern Cameroons-Ambazonians would want based on the truth of the matter.
Now let's go back in history.
Dr. John Ngu Foncha was a Prime minister of the southern Camerons elected into office after EN endeley , you know, talking about federation is a turn off for a true Southern Cameroons -Ambazonian who understands what this struggle is all about. He wrote a letter for those who are still assuming or thinking about federation. By the way, Foncha was the leader who willfully took Cameron into an experimental relationship and felt betrayed. You also need to be reminded that In 1994, he led a delegation of the Southern Cameroons National Council (SCNC) to the United Nations to request its backing of the movement's drive for greater autonomy for Sourthen Cameroons -Ambazonia.
JN Foncha, had said that Those thinking that federation is a solution to the Anglophone crisis should read
his resignation Letter on the
9th June 1990,
STAR SMART;
Dr JN Foncha highlighted a lot of issues, that can explain why the idea of federalism is not of interest to the southern Cameroons-Ambazonia.
During Dr. Foncha's political career which spaned over forty years, he headed the group that campaigned for and got the peoples of the then Southern Cameroons to vote for unification, after which he went from village to village in the then East Cameroun at the risk of his life to calm terrorism which existed at the time.
He even went further to house some Cameroonians wanted in East Cameroon. He successfully had them reconciled with the Ahidjo government. He missed being shot down on his way from Bafang on peace making mission. After unification, a lot of Cameroonians had confidence in him and when the first Presidential elections were coming up, many people urged him to stand against President Ahidjo but He decided to go for the Vice Presidency instead in order to avoid unnecessary conflict and further bloodshed. When President Ahidjo decided to get rid of him as the Vice President, a lot of Cameroonians sympathized with him and urged him to make an issue out of it, but for the love of peace, hecame back quietly to live in his village as a private citizen.
After settling in his village, he was occasionally consulted on some national issues and he accepted to serve the people of Cameroun in whatever capacity it pleased the powers that be to put him. When the leadership of Cameroun changed hands and of course Your Excellency became the President of the Republic and eventually headed the CNU, he assured Your Excellency that he was at his disposal and ready from his experience to give him advice he may need on national issues.
1) Unfortunately this was not to be as it became clear to Dr Foncha that he had become an irrelevant nuisance that had to be ignored and ridiculed.
- he was to be used now only as window dressing and not listened to. He was most of the time summoned to meetings by radio without any courtesy of his consultation on the agenda.
2) All projects of the former West Cameroon he had either initiated or held very dear to his heart had to be taken over, mismanaged and ruined, e.g. Cameroon Bank, West Cameroon Marketing Board, WADA in Wum, West Cameroon Cooperative Movement.
3) Whereas he spent all his life fighting to have a deep sea port in Limbe(Victoria) developed, this project had to be shelved and instead an expensive pipeline is to be built from SONARA in Limbe to Douala in order to pipe the oil to Douala.
4) All the roads in West Cameroonhis government had either built, improved or maintained were allowed to deteriorate making Kumba-Mamfe, Mamfe-Bamenda, Bamenda-Wum-Nkambe, Kumbo-Bamenda inaccessible by road. Projects were shelved even after petrol produced enough money for building them and the Limbe sea port.
5) All progress of employment, appointments, etc. meant to promote adequate regional representation in government and its services have been revised or changed at the expense of those who stood for TRUTH and justice. They are identified as "Foncha man" and put aside.
6) The anglophone Cameroonian whom I brought into the Union have been ridiculed and referred to as "les Biafrians", les enemies dans la maison", "les traites', etc., and the constitutional provisions which protected this anglophone minority have been suppressed, their voices drowned while the rule of the gun has replaced the dialogue which anglophones cherish very much.
7) The national media has been used by the government through people who never voted for unification to misinform the citizens about Bamenda, deliberate lies have been told over the mass media all in an attempt to isolate the anglophone Cameroonians who voted for unification and subject them to hatred and more discrimination and harassment from other Cameroonians.
8) Embezzlement of Public funds in all forms and illegal exportation of our currency by the privileged class seems to go without reprimand but is rather condoned.
9) The constitution which he held and preached as the supreme law of the land is in many respects being ignored or manipulated. His resignation was effective from the 9th June 1990.
Though He died in Bamenda on the 10th of April 1999 at the age of 82., But his legacy lives on.
Chris Wj Robert who is a fellow at the Canadian global affairs institute, dropped a tweet In this post by Tibor Nagy, he says;
"Federalists might have carried the day five years ago if real institutional reform looked possible in Yaoundé. Cameroon would be stronger (including in football!) as one country. But five years of zero effective reforms, millions displaced, thousands killed, & Franck on horizon??
Meanwhile the Secretary of state for women affairs also reacted Dr Patience Abiedu..
And this is what she had to say.
"You are wrong sir! Cardinal Tumi’s & CDN surveys have shown that #independence is the preference of #SouthernCameroonians. We already restored our #independence . You should rather push for a negotiated settlement btwn the 2 warring parties as per #USA S Res 684. @SecBlinken"
She went on to Explain that On the 22nd of September 2017, the people of southern Camerons rose up in union across every city town , village and county with peace plants denouncing the continued colonization and illegal occupation of their land and again in a similar fashion came out in their masses on the Ist of October 2017 and reclaimed the restoration Thier independence.
