MIDENO PRESENTS BALANCE SHEET TO THE PRESS

World Bank Steps In To Combat Food Crisis In Ambazonia

The conflict in the region is affecting the agricultural sector adversely. Many plantations have been abandoned as a result of the ongoing armed conflict in Southern Cameroons, Ambazonia. The illegal Northwest Development Authority with the French acronym MIDENO, charged with the responsibility to provide farmers with improved seedlings and guide them on better agricultural techniques is unable to carry on her duties to a reasonable percentage as a result of the conflict as well. Why are these colonial and illegal institutions not telling their hierarchy that they are unable to perform their duties as a result of the ongoing war in Southern Cameroons?

The illegal North West Development Authority, MIDENO, has reached an agreement with the World Bank to combat the impact of the food crisis in the Northern zone of Ambazonia. This was revealed to journalists during a press conference organized by the General Manager of illegal MIDENO at the Epic Event Centre on Friday 23rd December 2022. The project is expected to greatly add to the inadequate work MIDENO has done in 2022 to fight against food shortage in the Northern zone at a time when food prices are surging. In 2022, the authority distributed 20.45 tons of Maize seeds to be cultivated on a total land surface of 1,025 hectares and if properly harnessed, the resultant effect was to harvest 2562.5 tons of Maize in the region in the course of the year. This output is mere speculation and not realization.

The authority also distributed improved potato seedlings and cassava cuttings to farmers who were unable to access their farms because of insecurity. MIDENO, according to its Director General, in-house slave Cletus Anye Matoya, will continue its sensitisation and encouragement of farmers so the zone doesn't suffer any food crisis in future. The Northern zone plagued by insecurity has seen part of MIDENO's scope reduced in some parts that has witnessed a massive outflow of the youth that constitutes the workforce. This has limited the working space though the authority is increasing its presence in safer zones. The Director of Technical services, in-house slave Ndeh Emmanuel notes that MIDENO did some good in the area of road infrastructure.

The road leading to the Gas plant at Bangshe in Bamendakwe was opened covering a distance of 3.5KM. Also, in partnership with the colonial Ministry of Public Works, MIDENO is currently opening the Galim, Bamemyam, Awing, Bamenda road covering a total of 41.6KM. The project with a budget of 1.1 billion will see MIDENO provide equipment and personnel to the tune of 550 million francs while the colonial public works ministry will cover the rest. While appreciating the efforts of the Management of the Authority, the staff representative, Ndula Lawrence called on Management to affix the 27 labour medals approved by the colonial Minister of Labour and social security on them. A request in-house slave Cletus Anye Matoyah says will be done in 2023. He notes that "it is not just a matter of receiving medals; there should be a corresponding increase on their salaries. That will be done in 2023 as money is the issue now" The GM told the press.

MIDENO has seen a successful 2022 but not without hitches. Hitches which the Director of Administration and Finance, in-house slave Bawe Ndi Ernest says comes mostly from the late disbursement of subvention. Subventions which are also insufficient to carry on the mission of the authority. The illegal North West Development Authority was created in 1981 to drive the development of the Northern zone in agriculture and livestock. For the last four years, Cletus Anye Matoyah has been the pilot of the authority, ensuring that more and more farmers and more communities continue to benefit. But today it is a shadow of itself.
