BISHOP MICHAEL BIBI CONDEMNS THE ATTACK ON CDC WORKERS, VISITS VICTIMS AT THE HOSPITAL
Bishop BIBI Acts His Faith
The attack that led to the death of five workers of the CDC has been condemned by many persons and institutions with the Catholic church not being indifferent. The Bishop of the Diocese of Buea, His Lordship Michael Bibi, condemned in strong terms the killing of some five workers of the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC) on Thursday, February 10th, 2023, along the Tiko-Douala Road at Mondoni Oil Mill, which is part of Saint Peter’s Parish Mudeka, under his territorial circumscription. In a release dated Monday, February 13th, 2023, the Prelate writes: “I learned with a saddened heart the tragic news about five workers of the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC) Banana Group, comprising four men and one woman, shot dead and several others wounded on Friday, February 10, 2023.
The Bishop away from the statement has paid a visit to those recovering from wounds from the attack in the hospital. The Bishop of Buea sympathizes with the Victims of the Mondoni Attack by paying them a visit at Tiko Cottage Hospital. Bishop Michael Bibi, after issuing a communique condemning in strong terms the killing of some five workers of the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC) recently, paid a sympathy visit to the victims currently receiving treatment at the Tiko Cottage Hospital, on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
During the visit, he prayed with them, as well as encouraged them to remain prayerful during this time of recovery. Mgr Michael Bibi equally used his visit to provide some immediate assistance to the victims. According to a Press Release by the General Manager of CDC, signed on February 11, 2023, the workers were returning from work at about 5:30 p.m. when unidentified gunmen attacked the personnel carrier, transporting them along the stretch of road off the Tiko – Douala road from Mondoni Oil Mill found in the circumscription of St. Peter’s Parish Mudeka in the Diocese of Buea.
